TL;DR – Sweet dreams are made of cheese.

So recently we saw the arrival of the famed BAKE cheese tarts from Japan in Singapore and since then, whilst the queues for these molten lava cheesy tarts have yet to die down, here are some other cheese tarts that have sprouted like cray all over the island.

1) PrimaDeli

Go there because… SALTED EGG YOLK

Almost as popular as the BAKE tarts, these PrimaDeli Lava Cheese Tarts with their buttery, soft fillings and available in Original and get this, Salted Yolk (!!!) often sell out by mid-afternoon.

This was an accidental find and I’m so happy I discovered it! Molten cream cheese encased in a buttery shell caramelized with a browned glaze – I honestly think this is the best of the lot!

Price: $3 each (Buy 5 get 1 free)

Available at: Han’s @Springleaf Garden, Han’s @JEM, Han’s @CentrePoint, Han’s @ Buona Vista, Han’s @Century Square & Hanis @Wilkie Edge (Halal-certified)

For a touch of nostalgia, the cheese tarts from this neighbourhood bakery at Bukit Merah takes us back to yesteryear with their buttery cream cheese filling topped with blueberry jam or melted chocolate.

Price: Probably the cheapest at $1.40 per piece

Available at: 108 Depot Road, #01-09, Depot Heights Shopping Centre, Singapore 100108

4) BAKE

Go there because… you want to show bae you queued 2 hours.

I still maintain my stand that the self-proclaimed “best cheese tart ever in your life” is pretty good, but not worth queuing more than 5, ok fine, 10 minutes for. So my suggestion is that you wait for Singaporeans to get over it (remember the donuts craze back in 2007?) or like we had brilliantly suggested, fly to Bangkok to beat the queue.

If you need something more uppity for your refined taste buds, then perhaps this Cheese Tart from The Study is the one for you. Filled with mascarpone, cream cheese and parmesan cheese then topped with white chocolate mousse, strawberry gel & powder and fresh raspberries, it’s probably the most elaborate a cheese tart can get.
