The latest to join the all-Asian cast of Warner Bros.’ adaptation of best-selling book “Crazy Rich Asians” is British-Chinese actress Gemma Chan.

The book centres around crazy rich people living in Singapore, where new money and old money collides. The story follows a Chinese-American economics professor (Rachel Chu) and her Singaporean boyfriend (Nicholas Young).

Astrid Leong aka “The Goddess” is the woman every girl wants to be and every man want to be with. Think good upbringing, massive wealth, impeccable fashion sense (thanks to her couture shopping trips in Paris like how we go to H&M at Orchard Road) and extremely fine taste.

Gemma Chan has just been announced to play this It girl.

The British film and television actress was last seen in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, though you probably wouldn’t recognise her as Ya Zhou, a delegate witch to the International Confederation of Wizards.

Yup.

Other confirmed cast members of the movie include Constance Wu, Henry Golding and Michelle Yeoh.

The Fresh Off the Boat star will play lead character Rachel Chu, a Stanford-educated ABC who is an economics professor at New York University.

Even if you aren’t a Fresh Off the Boat fan, you would probably have seen this popular clip from the TV series.

The actor who’s currently based in Singapore and Malaysia will play male lead, Nicholas “Nick” Young – Rachel’s NYU history professor boyfriend who unbeknown to her, actually comes from an extremely wealthy Singaporean old-rich family. This will be Golding’s first-feature film.
