Former actress Wong Li Lin is now a public servant

TL;DR – She will help clean up Singapore’s streets.

Former actress, Wong Li Lin, who’s probably best remembered for her role as Inspector Elaine Tay in Channel 5 police drama Triple Nine and her ex-marriage to Allan Wu, has surprised Singaporeans with her new job as a public servant.

According to The Straits Times, she is now the executive director of the Public Hygiene Council (PHC) at the National Environment Agency.

The PHC was launched in 2011 to promote good hygiene practices and improve personal and public hygiene standards in Singapore, and she hopes to raise public awareness about what the PHC does with her public profile, and knowledge of social media.

She says, “I have always tried to underplay my profile, but I realise that I am still recognisable. It has only been in the past few years that I have begun to see how it can be put to some use.”

Since the article was published, Singaporeans – as expected – are skeptical.

Wong, however, does not see it as a problem.

“People see the tip of the iceberg and not the large chunk beneath the water’s surface, which is my very rich work experience,” she says.

Well, we guess only time will tell.
