TL;DR – How to make visiting more enjoyable.

You know Chinese New Year isn’t over when the lanterns are still out and there is still visiting to be done. If you need help in making all that visiting a tad more enjoyable, here are some things that you can consider!

1. Card and/or Board games

vCard games and board games are making a comeback and some of them can be pretty fun, intense and well-worth your time. Some popular games these days are Taboo, Monopoly Deal and the newly-launched The Singaporean Dream. It’s time to do away with awkward silences!

2. Unique local snacks

=Because there is nothing like food to bond Singaporeans and what better way than to buy some uniquely Singapore snacks so that everyone can bond over Hainanese Chicken Rice chips and Laksa chips?

3. Chocolates

Every Chinese New Year, you’re bound to find a box of Ferrero Rocher on the coffee table regardless of where you visit. Why not up the chocolate game with some fancy ones from Godiva instead?

4. Bak Kwa (of course!)

We all know Chinese New Year ain’t Chinese New Year without Bak Kwa. Whether from Bee Cheng Hiang, Lim Chee Guan or Sang Hock Guan, these barbecued slices of pork are guaranteed to move like hot cakes at every house you visit. There are also interesting bak kwa flavours like Chilli Bak Kwa, Pineapple Bak Kwa and even vegetarian Bak Kwa that you can consider.

7. Polaroid camera

What do you do when you meet up with friends? Spam photos! If you have a polaroid camera, why not bring it along and snap photos for keepsake? We bet everyone will enjoy the activity – even if they don’t admit it!
