TL;DR – Because #EveryWorkerMatters!

With the onset of the COVID-19 cases in Singapore, frontline workers are no doubt the ones with a higher risk of exposure to the virus.

Last week we saw National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) secretary-general Ng Chee Meng giving out masks to the frontline workers at Changi Airport, this week we are heartened to know that Gardens By The Bay (GBB) has also taken additional steps to protect the security officers!

According to Union of Security Employees (USE), these are some of the initiatives that GBB has taken:

A care package for the security officers

Together with the security agency, Reachfield Security Services, GBB has put together a care package containing a mask and a thermometer for the security officers. On top of that, GBB also provides the security officers with hand sanitisers, disinfectants for their workplace and yes, Herbal Tea!

A resting room for the security officers

GBB has also provided a separate resting room for the security officers so that they can be segregated from visitors whilst taking their break or changing shifts.

A daily briefing on the status of the outbreak

To ensure that the security officers are well aware of the status of the outbreak, GBB conducts daily briefing to security officers. They also ensure that their temperatures are monitored twice daily and they also provide for security officers who feel unwell to seek immediate medical attention.

Understandably, there may be a shortfall of security officers during this period. As such, GBB has worked closely with Reachfield Security Services to come up with a standard of procedure to help the team tide through this period. This hence provides for a trusted and reliable working relationship between GBB and the security agency.

If you remember, some eight months ago, we spilled some tea about the things that the USE has been doing behind our back. Today, we found out that the union has once again outdone themselves!

This time, not only there’s relief fund for security officers who have to serve quarantine or leave of absence (LOA) orders, they’ve also handed out sachets of Vitamin C pastilles to the security officers across Singapore to thank them for their professionalism and dedication despite the outbreak of COVID-19.

Aren’t they the sweetest ♥
