TL;DR – The LKY musical was first performed in 2015 at Marina Bay Sands.
The LKY Musical is finally making its return to the stage again this September, seven years after its inaugural run.
The home-grown musical, which tells the story of Singapore’s founding prime minister Lee Kuan Yew from his student days in 1941 to Singapore’s independence in 1965, will see theatre veteran Adrian Pang reprising his Life Theatre Award-winning role as the late Mr Lee, while Mandopop singer and actress Kit Chan will portray Mr Lee’s wife Kwa Geok Choo.
The role of Mdm Kwa Geok Choo (aka Mrs Lee Kuan Yew) was previously played by Sharon Au back in 2015.
The musical is produced by entertainment production house Aiwei and Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT), with story by Meira Chand and music by Dick Lee. It will also star Sebastian Tan and Benjamin Chow – who previously won an ST Life Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actor for playing politician Lim Chin Siong.
Previews for the musical will start on 7 September at the Sands Theatre in Marina Bay Sands. Ticket prices range from $49 to $159 and are now on sale. For more details, click here.
