Ice Cream CravingsIce Cream Cravings

Ice cream is a beloved dessert enjoyed by people of all ages and cultures around the world. Whether it’s a hot summer day or a cold winter evening, a scoop of creamy, sweet ice cream can bring joy and comfort to anyone.

People love ice cream because it can evoke memories and emotions. Many people have fond childhood memories of going out for ice cream with their families or enjoying a cone on a hot summer day. Ice cream can also be associated with celebrations and special occasions, such as birthdays and weddings.

Despite its popularity, ice cream is not without its drawbacks. It’s often high in calories and sugar and can contribute to health issues such as obesity and diabetes if consumed in excess. However, there are now many options for healthier versions of ice cream, such as low-fat and sugar-free varieties.

Is Gelato better than Ice Cream?

Compared to traditional ice cream, gelato typically has a lower fat content and a higher sugar content. However, whether or not gelato is “healthier” than ice cream depends on a few factors, including the specific ingredients and serving sizes.

In general, gelato tends to be denser and more flavorful than ice cream because it contains less air and has a higher concentration of flavourings. Because gelato is made with milk instead of cream, it typically contains less butterfat than ice cream. Some gelato recipes may also use less sugar than ice cream, but this can vary depending on the recipe.

How to curb your cravings

1. Choose healthier alternatives

Instead of reaching for ice cream, try satisfying your sweet tooth with healthier alternatives like fresh fruit, frozen yoghurt, or a small serving of dark chocolate.

2. Drink water

Sometimes, what we perceive as cravings for certain foods can actually be thirst. Try drinking a glass of water before reaching for the ice cream to see if your cravings subside.

3. Plan ahead

If you know you’re prone to ice cream cravings, try planning ahead by stocking your fridge with healthier alternatives or scheduling a special treat day once a week where you allow yourself a small serving of your favorite ice cream.

Remember that cravings are a natural part of life, and it’s okay to indulge in treats in moderation. Be kind to yourself and celebrate small successes along the way.
