The ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ trailer is out and it’s crazy good

TL;DR – So flashy! So opulent! So fancy!

To be honest, when news of the movie adaption of Kevin Kwan’s ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ novel first broke, I didn’t get my hopes very high. Maybe it was the casting (Henry Golding as Nicholas Young? Hmmm), maybe it’s my doubts that Hollywood probably wouldn’t be able to do that good a job portraying Singapore…

But OMG, the 2min 45sec trailer trailer which was released on Monday night Singapore time by Warner Bros Pictures, is good.

In fact, it’s more than just good. It’s practically a masterpiece.

Henry Golding does a great job playing the male romantic lead, hearing Constance Wu without her Fresh Off The Boat accent made me see her in a new light and catching a glimpse of Singaporean actress Tan Kheng Hua in it made me beam SO MUCH with pride. And then there are those magnificent scenes of Singapore’s CBD and Gardens by the Bay skylines.

Plus, the costumes! The sets! So flashy! So opulent! So fancy… it’s like The Great Gatsby on steroids.

Directed by Jon M. Chu (“Now You See Me 2”), the movie opens in cinema later in August and I honestly can’t wait!
